Poem of the Day — Cracked Paper

Cracked Paper

Practical, slithering, my sliding rule of the thumb; slipping,

In cool damp derision; peeling citrus covering

Reveal sharp conventions; hard habits to break

The zone of returning, to understanding self doubt

Rubbing my nose in it; sniffing the choking

Spreading the history over a slice of moments.

Grasping the sharp precipice to mount a succession

A passing of the emotions; shimmering like electric passion

Startling the beast of need

The craving of comfort away from all this

But this is away from it already

A steady stream of jagged purgatory

Rattling in the chest

A death of an unresolved issue

Move on
